Black tail Godwits - Feeding |
And again |
Amongst the Godwits were Red Shank, Dunlin and a whole variety of ducks including 122 Pintail. Which have remained elusive to photograph.
With the tide coming in swiftly both us and the Godwits had to move fast to avoid getting soaked. We headed up on Heswall fields looking for a reported snow bunting but to no avail. We decided to head back up the Wirral Way, where we spotted 14 Grey Partridge looking like lumps of clay at the far end of the field. The day before there were 6 Reg Legged partridge in the same field, it looks like some may have escaped the guns this time around.
All in all it has been a very good day on the estuary, and now it is starting to feel like a season for the first time in ages, winter is at last on its way.
